Grad party pleaser
GRADUATIONS ARE landmark occasions
well worth celebrating. Costco’s Kirkland
Signature™ sheet cake makes grad parties a
little sweeter, in terms of taste and cost.
“In 1987, when Costco first opened its
bakery department, the Kirkland Signature
sheet cake was a unique item among warehouse clubs—and an unbelievable value,” says
Sue McConnaha, who oversees Costco’s bakery
operation. And it’s still an incredible value.
Measuring 10 by 14 inches and weighing about
9 pounds, 2 pounds of which is mousse filling,
a Costco sheet cake will feed about 48 people.
In comparison, most grocery-store cakes
weigh about 5. 5 pounds, are filled with jam or
pudding and often cost more than Costco’s
sheet cake.
Size and heft aside, the quality of these
cakes is what makes them real crowd pleasers.
They are made daily in the warehouses with
the freshest ingredients. Talented cake decorators dress them up. All cake decorations, for
instance, are handcrafted out of butter cream,
not purchased beforehand and added to the
cake after it’s ordered.
